AMBASSADORS will be used to help people visiting a town.

The team of people in Gosport will be available during big events.

Gosport Ambassadors will be at Stokes Bay for the P1 Grand Prix of the Sea on July 9 and 10 as well as at the America’s Cup World Series on July 23 and 24.

They will also be at various locations across the town for the Heritage Open Days in September.

Katie Nelson, the co-ordinator for the ambassadors and also a volunteer, said: ‘I was born here and love Gosport, I want to see it thrive.

‘Our town has a lot of events and attractions to offer visitors and that will be highlighted by the additional welcome from the ambassadors.’

The idea for the group came out of the Waterfront and High Street Economic Plan by the Gosport Coastal Community Team.

They will help visitors with finding places to eat, how to get to places and where facilities are like toilets.
