Teenager rescued from mud in Sarisbury Green

A 16-year-old girl was rescued after she became stuck in mud while walking her dog today.

Fire crews were called to woods at Coldeast in Sarisbury Green just after 12.45pm after the girl got into difficulty.

Crews from Fareham, Cosham, Gosport and Hightown were sent, and used a ladder and small inflatable boat to rescue her.

Richard Mount, watch manager from Hightown, said: ‘When we got there she was up to her thighs in mud with her dog. She couldn’t move at all.

‘We used a mud scoop to get her out.

‘We had to clear bushes to get to her, and then we got somebody on a ladder to reach her.’

The crews left her with paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service, although Mr Mount said she – and her pet Labrador – appeared to be fine.

The incident, which took place in woodland between Columbus Drive and Allotment Road, was over by just after 1.30pm.
