TESCO has confirmed its new store next to Fratton Park will still open as planned.

It comes as the supermarket announced this morning that it has seen another big fall in profits.

The firm said underlying profits for the first half of its financial year were £354m. That’s a 55 per cent drop on the same period last year, when it made £779m.

A spokesman for Tesco said: ‘The Fratton Park store is still opening. We look forward to continuing to serve our customers in our existing stores in Portsmouth.’

The new store is due to open next month, in time for Christmas.
