A PORTSMOUTH businesswoman is bringing timeless quality and style to the fashion world with her new collection.

Atelier MorganMarsh, run by Tina Morgan and her partner Berrin Marsh, has unveiled its inaugural collection.

The design duo has reinvented the classic dress as a contemporary must-have, created from breathable fabrics: silk, cotton tweed, cotton velvet and wool crepe. Some have stretch for a perfect fit, and every piece has a pure silk lining to ensure a sensuous swish.

Portsmouth-born Tina said: ‘Every savvy modern woman needs the perfect dress as an antidote to busy, stressful lives. A great dress is flattering and versatile, slip it on with trainers to tackle hectic mornings, add heels for glamour later in the day.'

Berrin added: ‘The dresses are skilfully cut to flatter, whilst their understated elegance gives the option to dress them up - or down - depending on the choice of accessories. We think clients prefer to make their own statement.’

Tina and Berrin, who are both mothers, have also launched an essential Like Mama collection.

Fervent devotees of slow fashion principles, including making a limited collection plus made to order, are committed to ethical production. Garments are made in their own atelier in Turkey and recycled packaging is used. Even the business cards are made from recycled T-shirts.

Tina’s passion for heirloom dressing began as a child when her mother, Irene Morgan, ran a successful clothing business, Tina’s Boutique, for 30 years in Marmion Road Southsea.

She said: ‘The wonderful fabric and cut of the dresses meant they never dated. My daughter now loves wearing my dresses from that time. And we hope that our Atelier MorganMarsh pieces will one day be handed on.’

Turkish-born Berrin also grew up surrounded by inspirational leaders of the fashion industry.

She said: ‘Women in Turkey wore beautiful, made to measure clothes in natural fabrics. I wanted to recreate something of that era - with all its intrinsic elegance and sustainable principles.’
