A GROUP of volunteers who spent 24 hours in a liferaft for charity have raised £3,278 for their cause.

The group are all employees at Sunsail in Port Solent, and spent the 24 hours moored in the marina by their office.

Sunsail employees Anson Lane, Louise Neville, Hayley Carter, Matt Davies and Alex Blincow were joined by Lindsey Noble of Southampton City College in the small but moored eight-man liferaft.

The event was part of an ongoing series of liferaft challenges across the south coast in November, in aid of the Sail 4 Cancer charity.

Crew member Alex Blincow said: ‘It was an extremely uncomfortable 24 hours but it was worth it to raise money for Sail 4 Cancer, allowing cancer sufferers to get out sailing and enjoy a little respite.’
