Time to celebrate Havant's apprentices

Barratt Homes is a key industry partner of the upcoming Havant Small Business Awards, which will celebrate the range and strength of small local businesses – and the individuals behind them – in the Havant area.

Mr Mak is now seeking nominations for the apprentice of the year category.

He believes it is vital to recognise the important contribution made by apprentices in the local economy and community.

‘My Havant Small Business Awards includes an Apprentice of the Year category to specifically recognise their excellence and I encourage residents to nominate any local apprentices they know who have gone the extra mile or who deserve special recognition for their work.

‘Let’s celebrate the outstanding contribution made by apprentices to Havant’s economy and community.’

Barratt Homes, who are currently undertaking a development of new homes at Nursery Fields, Denvilles, has a strong record of employing apprentices and providing on-the-job training for local youngsters hoping to pursue a career in construction.

Barratt community liaison manager Anthony Dimmick, said the company’s apprenticeships provide the perfect foundations for a career in the construction industry.

He said: ‘Apprenticeships are becoming increasingly popular and we’ve seen that first-hand, with the number of young people applying for our apprenticeship programme rising year on year.’
