THE deadline is fast approaching for businesses to apply for a share of a £2.1m fund.

The Bridging the Gap fund is available to help small and medium businesses start up or grow, and the first wave of applications must be in by Tuesday, July 31.

The fund, which is the result of a successful Regional Growth Fund bid, is set to make grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 to applicants across Gosport, Portsmouth and Havant.

Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has urged firms in her Gosport constituency to apply for the funding.

She said: ‘With just five days to go before the deadline for Round One applications, I’m calling on all local SMEs and potential entrepreneurs to get their bids in.

‘With the criteria open to all business ideas, you really have nothing to lose, and the grants of between £5,000 to £50,000 could be the boost that turns your business dreams into a reality.’

Applicants should see solentlep.org.uk/regional_growth_fund for information about the fund and the application process, which is being overseen by the Solent LEP.
