Thomas Sanderson helped Wessex Heartbeat by valeting two of its conservatories

The family-run company, that started in Waterlooville, completed a free valet of the conservatories for Wessex Heartbeat - a charity that supports people with heart conditions treated in the Wessex Cardiac Centre at Southampton General Hospital.

The charity runs Heartbeat House, which offers free accommodation to families and friends of patients that are admitted to the centre.

Wessex Heartbeat chief executive John Munro said: '˜It costs us £80,000 per year to run Heartbeat House, so any support we receive to reduce that cost means we have more funds to support patients and their families.

'˜The conservatories really needed some attention and it's great Thomas Sanderson was able to help. Their support is really appreciated and will make a difference to everyone who stays with us.'

Thomas Sanderson has been supporting Wessex Heartbeat for two years with sponsorship and fundraising events.

Managing director Nigel Campkin said: '˜The staff at Thomas Sanderson are very proactive in supporting charities though fundraising activities.

'˜We appreciate the amazing work Wessex Heratbeat does in the local community to improve cardiac care. We are proud to support them directly by donating the services of one of our conservatory valeting teams.

'˜Their expertise, combined with some specialist treatments and a whole load of elbow grease, returned the conservatories to as clean and fresh as the day they were built.

'˜Hopefully, the families of cardiac patients who are staying at the house can relax and enjoy them, while being close to their loved ones who are being cared for by the wonderful staff at the hospital.'

The valet took three specially-trained valeters a day to complete.

Valeter John Wildeman said: '˜We do a lot of conservatory valets, but it's nice to do one for a great cause.'

Thomas Sanderson was founded in Waterlooville in 1991 and has grown into one of the UK's leading suppliers of hand-crafted conservatory blinds, window shutters and window blinds.
