Matt Crookes, from Havant, won a gold award in the secondary education category at the Construction Manager of the Year awards, run by the Chartered Institute of Building.

Matt delivered the £11m UTC in Portsmouth for BAM Construction, which opened in September 2017. It was one of just two schemes from the south coast that made it to the finals. The UTC's lead for the scheme was Lt Cdr Fiona Haynes who was at the awards. '˜We've been delighted with the way BAM managed our build,' she said.

Matt said: '˜I would not have won without my team and a fantastic client. I've been privileged to work with them.'
