Inflation slid to its lowest level in almost five years during August, official figures showed today. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) fell from 1.8% to 1.6% over the month, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). It was last lower in November 2004. A FIRM that helps build and develop businesses scooped
a top honour at an awards night.

Segensworth-based company Just Develop It was last night named winner of the Overall Business award at the Johnston Press South Business Awards.

They are run by The
News and its sister publications across Sussex and Hampshire.

Winners were announced at a gala dinner at the Grand Hotel in Brighton.

And Just Develop It wasn’t the only business from this area which went home with a gong.

Andrew and Robert Pearce from Southsea bridal boutique Creatiques were thrilled to have won the Best Retailer award.

Fareham-based coach and minibus hire firm Lucketts Travel took top honours in a Best Large Business category.

And the Mary Rose Trust added to its string of honours by winning a Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure award.

News editor and JP South editorial director Mark Waldron said: ‘We’re proud of what our local businesses – big and small – achieve on a day-to-day basis and we use our annual Business Excellence awards to celebrate this.

‘To now have four from on our patch being recognised as the best of our whole southern region is a fantastic result and richly deserved.’

There were more than 50 businesses nominated for nine awards given out at the dinner.

The awards took place for the sixth time this year and were sponsored by firms including JSPC Computer Services.
