IT’S dough joke – Zagros Jaff has been named the fastest Domino’s pizza maker in the UK for the second year in a row.

Zagros, who manages the firm’s Fratton branch, beat hundreds of competitors from UK and Ireland to take the title.

After a series of regional heats, Zagros made it into the final 21 and travelled to Milton Keynes to take part in the final.

Zagros, 24, has worked at the Domino’s in Fratton Road, Portsmouth, for the last six years.

He won the competition by making three pizzas in 51.57 seconds.

He said: ‘To win this title again is a huge honour.

‘The competition is fierce as there are so many good contenders, all with the same passion and energy, so to beat them all is just fantastic.

‘For the competition we had to make three high quality pizzas.

‘We started with making a pepperoni, then a mushroom and finally a plain cheese and tomato.

‘So to be the quickest to do this is great.

‘I feel very proud to be the fastest pizza maker in the UK and this is the second year I have done it so it’s fantastic.

‘I have been working really hard for the last five or six years to become the fastest.

‘I just try to make all of them as quickly as possible for the customer and to keep them happy.’

After spending months perfecting their dough stretching, saucing and topping techniques, all the competitors were eager to put their pizza-making skills to the test and do their best to win.

Judges Jason Prescott and Simon Hudson were looking for pizza perfection as the candidates were judged on speed, accuracy and the quality of the pizza they produced.

Mr Hudson said: ‘I am so pleased for Zagros.

‘He is a very worthy winner.

‘Each year he gets better and better. His determination to succeed is admirable and his passion for pizza-making perfection is there for all to see.’

Franchise manager, Wayne Benson, also praised Zagros for his win.

He said: ‘Zagros came to us when he was just 17.

‘He has worked his way to be store manager and the competition is a great way for him to be rewarded for all his hard work.’
