Town is one of busiest pumpkin capitals in UK

HAVANT has been named as one of the UK's top pumpkin capitals as 6,984 pumpkins were sold at the Larchwood Avenue branch of Asda in the lead-up to Halloween.

The rocketing of sales, which contributes to a nationwide figure of 1.3m in the last week, makes Havant the 13th highest-selling town.

Doncaster is topping the table, with 8,920 pumpkins shifted. The supermarket chain expects to have sold as many as 2.1m pumpkins by the end of trade yesterday.

A spokesman said: ‘It’s been one of our best years for pumpkin sales as Brits are getting creative, carving and cooking pumpkins.’
