Millions of unseen naval artefacts to star in new Portsmouth museum

PORTSMOUTH Visitor Information Service, the Solent Hotel and Spa in Whiteley, and West Marden Farm Accommodation in West Sussex have been handed awards at the Beautiful South’s Awards for Excellence 2011.

Solent Hotel and Spa was given Gold in the Business Tourism section, while the PVIS came top in the Tourist Information Service of the Year category.

West Marden Farm Accommodation won Gold in the Self-Catering and Serviced Apartments section.

They will now go on to compete in the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012.

John Williams, chairman of Tourism South East, said: ‘The current economic climate continues to present many challenges for the tourism industry – however, the standards achieved by our award winners this year show their determination to provide their visitors and guests with memorable and outstanding experiences.

‘The award winners have shown that they are truly the best in class and we look forward to seeing them on the national stage.’
