TV presenter Davina McCall is another of the famous names set to appear at the hotly anticipated America’s Cup World Series.

The Gosport-born star will host the prize ceremony on July 26 in the festival arena on Southsea Common.

This just shows this is a global event. It’s world-wide. Millions and millions of people will be watching it, everyone will be focused on Portsmouth.

Davina has presented numerous shows including Big Brother from 2000 to 2010, The Million Pound Drop Live, Five Minutes to a Fortune and The Jump.

Davina’s appearance is part of four days of action-packed entertainment being laid on for the World Series from July 23 to 26, featuring a British team led by Olympic sailing legend Sir Ben Ainslie.

Other special guests are to be announced soon.

Portsmouth’s Tory culture, leisure and sport boss, Cllr Linda Symes, said: ‘This just shows this is a global event.

‘It’s worldwide. Millions and millions of people will be watching it, everyone will be focused on Portsmouth.

‘Plus with all the advertising by Emirates that Portsmouth is a destination, we hope it will encourage more and more people to come and visit the city.’

The RAF Red Arrows, Red Bull Matadors, The Blades, Trig Aerobatic & Grace Spitfire have all been confirmed to fly as part of stunning aerial displays during the contest.

And Spandau Ballet, Wet Wet Wet, McBusted and Carly Rae Jepsen will bring the party to the common when they perform at the Portsmouth Live! concert on the Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Travis Perkins, Coors Light, BT Sport and the 1851 Trust have today been unveiled as the official partners of the Portsmouth World Series.

The 1851 Trust, of which the Duchess of Cambridge is a patron, is a charity that’s been set up to get more young people into sailing.

John Carter, chief executive of Travis Perkins, the UK’s leading supplier of building materials to builders merchants, said: ‘Travis Perkins Plc is excited to be supporting the event in Portsmouth in 2015 and 2016 as the Accessibility and Inclusivity Partner.

‘As well as sponsoring facilities at the venue, we are also supporting the 1851 Trust’s Portsmouth Sailing project

‘The project will enable up to 1,000 young people from diverse backgrounds to take part in amazing sailing experiences.’

Sir Ben’s Land Rover BAR squad – renamed following a sponsorship deal with Jaguar Land Rover – are now operating out of their new state-of-the-art headquarters at the Camber, in Old Portsmouth.
