Under-threat Oakleaf brewery is set to be saved by Whiteley investment firm

As revealed by The News, Oakleaf Brewery, in Gosport was forced into administration early last month after 16 years of being in business due to the rise of microbreweries.

After a period of uncertainty, the brewery has been saved by investment firm Just Develop It and is set to be renamed as Fallen Acorn Brewing Co.

There were fears that the brewery could be taken out of its Gosport base, but it looks likely that it will be resurrected in its current location in Clarence Wharf Industrial Estate.

Its beers have won multiple CAMRA awards, both regionally and nationally, and Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage also campaigned to get the beer to be served in the House Of Commons bar.

The News understands that administrators Portland Business & Financial Solutions have a deal in place and that it will be made official tomorrow morning.

Oakleaf formerly ran The Florist pub, in Fratton, which also reopened last month.

Dan Richards, Just Develop It’s chief operating officer, said ‘It is tremendously exciting to be breathing a new lease of life into a much-loved business in the area.’
