THE number of people claiming jobseekers’ allowance has fallen again.

Figures compiled by the Office for National Statistics show that the number of people claiming the benefit across the south east has dropped from 59,866 to 59,589.

In Portsmouth, the figure fell from 2,170 in July to 2,166 in August.

In Gosport, it dropped from 656 to 629.

And in Fareham, it went down from 459 to 441.

There was a small rise in Havant as the number of people claiming jobseekers allowance went from 1,050 to 1,059.
