Dawn Carr, PETA director of vegan corporate projects said: ‘The plant-based chicken at Earth delivers huge flavour with zero cruelty.

‘PETA’s top 10 list will help those turned away from KFC to get their fried chicken fix without the battered flesh of dead birds.’

People who choose to commit to a vegan lifestyle reduce their risk of heart attacks, obesity, diabetes and numerous other ailments.

A report from the United Nations found that a global switch to vegan eating is necessary to tackle the worst effects of climate change.

Earth will receive a framed award for its achievement.

Other restaurants listed include Not Dogs in Birmingham and Temple of Seitan in London.
