THE team behind Victorious Festival has joined forces with the America’s Cup.
A Stone’s Throw Events has been put in charge of providing the evening entertainment over the four-day bonanza.
And Gunwharf Quays has become one of the event’s official supporters.
Director of A Stone’s Throw Events James Ralls said: ‘We’re thrilled that the America’s Cup World Series is coming to Portsmouth.
‘It’s great for our city, and we’re really happy to be able to help with our experience from Victorious Festival.
‘We’re currently planning the evening entertainment programme and it will be a fantastic show – more details will be announced in April.’
Through the partnership, Gunwharf Quays will provide the berths for key team and organiser support boats, pontoon pick-ups, and specific information areas to support the event.
General manager of the shopping centre Colin Wilding said: ‘As one of the key event hubs, Gunwharf Quays offers visitors the opportunity to become immersed in the event’s atmosphere with the chance to explore and relax.’
America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth event director, Leslie Greenhalgh said: ‘We believe working with these two partners will help create a unique event that meets both local and visitor expectations.
‘Portsmouth is a vibrant city with excellent business connections, one of our aims is to work within the community to deliver the event and we look forward to announcing more partnerships in the near future.’
The America’s Cup is already proving to be a hugely popular event with 88,000 bookings made to date. It runs from July 23 to 26 and is expected to attract more than 100,000 people to the city.
