NEW business owners and those who dream of starting their own firm have the chance to draw on a wealth of knowledge and experience this week.
There are free events going on around Gosport for Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship.
Councillor Stephen Philpott, chairman of Gosport Borough Council’s economic development board, said: ‘Gosport Borough Council is involved in GEW 2015 as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the town’s entrepreneurs, businesses and local economy.’
Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage said the events were great for Gosport.
Ms Dinenage said she would go to the bookkeeping workshop on Friday.
She said: ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great way of inspiring people who are thinking about starting their own business.
‘Previously starting up a small business myself, I know that however rewarding the experience is, the obstacles to getting started are daunting.’
Events still to take place include:
n A ‘meet the local expert’ workshop at Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower at Priddys Hard (today from 9am to 1pm).
This event is for those who have just started their business, or for a more established small business looking to grow or address barriers to growth.
The keynote speakers are from local professional service firms and owners of established businesses, who will be sharing their top ‘do’s and don’ts’ for starting and growing a business.
n A Gosport Informal Network meeting at the Boat House Cafe at Gosport Marina (tomorrow from 10am to midday).
n An introduction to bookkeeping workshop at TaxAssist Gosport in South Street (Friday from 9am to midday).
With a friendly and hands-on approach, this workshop aims to help start-up and small business owners have a clearer understanding on how to manage their accounts.
