PEOPLE are being warned to expect up to six weeks of delays during works to upgrade the gas supply network.
Starting on October 1, Southern Gas Networks will be replacing gas mains in Kiln Road, Fareham.
During the first phase, the gas main at the junction of Kiln Road and The Mallards will be replaced. Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place for about four weeks.
During the second phase, the works will stretch along Kiln Road between The Mallards and Park Lane. Temporary four-way traffic lights around the work area will replace the existing traffic signals at the junction of Kiln Road, North Hill, Park Lane and Old Turnpike for about two weeks.
SGN construction manager Paul Willis said teams would be working extended hours for seven days week to get the work done. He said: ‘We have been working closely with Hampshire County Council to plan this work in such a way as to minimise disruption.’
