Watch: Take a video ride on the Solent Wheel
IT'S not quite as high as the Spinnaker Tower, but the Solent Wheel offers a magnificent view across Portsmouth and beyond, writes Ruth Scammell.
Soaring above the sea, the attraction smoothly glides upwards to give a view of the sprawling city of Portsmouth, the glistening sea in the Solent and the distant Isle of Wight.
Across to the dockyard, it gives a fantastic view of the striking Spinnaker Tower as the cross-channel ferries sail in and out of view. The Solent Wheel is a welcome addition to Southsea, and I think it will be popular with both locals and tourists.
