SOUTHERN Water will have invested more than £400m in the past year on improving pipes, sewers, water supply and treatment works by the end of March 2013.

This includes a £20 million scheme to radically change the Victorian sewer system in Portsmouth, reducing the risk of sewer flooding, due to complete in 2015.

Head of capital delivery Richard Price said: ‘The projects will bring major environmental and service improvements, the benefits of which will last long into the future.’
