PLANS to make Southampton’s waterfront a luxury destination which the developer says will ‘rival Gunwharf’ have been unveiled.
The £25m hotel in Southampton’s Ocean Village looks set to be given the go-ahead next week.
The plans, which have been drawn up by MDL Marinas, are for a four or five-star hotel including 76 rooms and a spa as well as a champagne roof terrace and restaurant.
A further 12 luxury flats will be built on top.
And another 82 flats are planned in blocks of six to 10 storeys high next door over a mix of shops, cafes, office and restaurants. There are also plans to bring in a Michelin-starred chef for one of the new restaurants.
Managing director of MDL Marinas Group Eamonn Feeney said: ‘We see Ocean Village becoming the new waterfront destination for Southampton, to rival Gunwharf Quays.’
