Waters at Southsea Beach in '˜excellent' condition according to Environment Agency
The Environment Agency has classified its waters as excellent following inspection of samples taken this year.
And local leaders say it’s great news at a time when Portsmouth is seeking to attract more tourists.

Hide AdTory environment boss, Councillor Rob New, said: ‘This is great news. Eastney has had an ‘excellent’ rating for some time and now Southsea has the same. Having two top-rated beaches will help tourism and boost our reputation even more as the Great Waterfront City.’
Southsea Beach was ranked as ‘poor’ in 2013, but has steadily improved since. It achieved a ‘good’ rating last year before the 2016 inspection.
