PEOPLE are being invited to apply for one of a thousand new jobs being created.

A recruitment fayre is due to take place next week, to fill positions at the huge £84m Whiteley Shopping Centre development.

The centre is due to open in May.

There will be 50 new shops, restaurants and cafes.

Fareham Borough Council leader Cllr Sean Woodward said: ‘This is fantastic news.

‘Obviously these jobs will be for a much larger area as well as for Whiteley.

‘In terms of job creation it is extremely good.

‘It is badly needed as south Hampshire under-performs in terms of economic development. Any jobs are extremely welcome.’

More information about getting a job at the centre is to be given on Wednesday, March 27, at The Solent Hotel, in Rookery Avenue, Whiteley.

Anyone attending needs to pre-register their interest. Call the hotel on 01489 880000.
