COULD your community project benefit from a week’s free rent in the newest shopping centre in Hampshire?

The News is joining Wave 105 and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce to launch a competition to win a week’s free space at the Treehouse in Whiteley Shopping Centre.

The only one of its kind in the UK, The Treehouse is a specially constructed pop-up events and shopping space made from recycled materials.

The possibilities for The Treehouse are endless. It could host a pop-up shop, café, a charity event, play, film or art showcase, or even an intimate gig.

This competition gives local people the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of thousands of shoppers. All ideas will be considered, and the only limit is your imagination.

Not only will the winning entries receive rent-free space for a week, the events will also be promoted via the Whiteley website and Facebook page, and the winners can draw on expert advice from Whiteley’s retail and marketing team.

Whiteley Shopping Centre manager Neil Carter said: ‘We want the all-new Whiteley to be a big part of community life.

‘We already have several local independent retailers joining the line-up, and we’re now launching a fantastic competition for local individuals, groups or businesses.

‘What goes in The Treehouse is up to you: it could be used for a week of drama performances, as a smoothie bar or to showcase the artwork of a school or college.

‘It’s a chance to share your talent and ideas with thousands of shoppers and could be the start of something big! The Whiteley team will support as much as possible and help promote your time in The Treehouse.’

Finalists will be invited to a put forward their proposal to a panel of judges including Editor of The News Mark Waldron, Neil Carter and Sue Duddington from Whiteley Shopping Centre, and Andy Shier from Wave 105 and Maureen Frost from Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.
