COLOURFUL wool will transform a town as residents and traders celebrate International Yarn Bombing Day.

Businesses in Bishop’s Waltham will be embracing the craze, a type of street art in which everyday items such as bollards, benches and bridges are decorated with knitted or crocheted items.

An event is being held on Saturday, June 7, which coincides with two other important events for the town.

It is the 25th anniversary of New Wool and Footwear, Bishop’s Waltham’s own yarn and haberdashery shop and is also the date the annual carnival comes to the town.

Bishop’s Waltham Town Team is helping to co-ordinate the event and is asking anyone with even the most basic knitting or crocheting skills to get out their needles and wool and make something colourful to adorn the High Street.

Contributions should be dropped off at the New Wool and Footwear shop, on High Street at 9am on the day.
