Baking on the menu in latest challenge day

GIRLS from schools around Portsmouth are set to test their baking and language skills this week in the latest '˜challenge day'.

Portsmouth High School is holding two days that aim to help students in Years 3, 4, and 5 develop their confidence and presentation skills.

Today sees girls from nearby schools competing in language challenges and given language taster sessions in Latin, Spanish, Bengali and Mandarin.

On Thursday pupils will swap rulers for rolling pins in a baking challenge which will see students put their bread making skills to the test.

Director of communications at Portsmouth High School, Lucinda Webb said: ‘Challenge Days are always academically stretching and great fun.’

Assistant headteacher Graeme Field said: ‘All these challenges are fabulous opportunities for girls from local junior schools to compete together to solve, and take part in.’

He said: ‘We have a great deal of fun and the girls have a chance to learn in a completely different way.’
