Course to make the perfect trousers

It’s a time for good intentions, learning new skills and trying new things – all of which is healthy and motivating and Making Space is here to help!

We are a unique craft organisation based in Havant, and we’ve teamed up with sewing expert June Allnutt to offer a six-week sewing course to help you accomplish those new year resolutions.

We all know how tricky it is finding the perfect pair of fitted trousers.

Either the fit is perfect but you hate the material, or you adore the material but the cut of the trouser does nothing for you, or they’re perfect but way over budget.

Over the course of six evenings you will learn many tips and tricks for making professional looking trousers, that will not only give you great looking trousers that fit in all the right places, but the skills learnt will transfer onto many other items of clothing you make in the future.

June explains why she is excited about this course. ‘I have always found the Making Space studios a very positive experience, everyone is always supportive and very helpful,’ she said.

‘The studios are well lit, spacious, and have a really lovely atmosphere with everything you need to hand.

‘The whole space is very creative which encourages new students to want to be involved.

‘In one word it is excellent.’

The course, which starts on February 1, will be supported with handouts.

You don’t even need your own sewing machine as June has enough for everyone.

You will learn how to take perfect body measurements, pattern draft a trouser block, fit and adapt the design for your unique shape, as well as actually cut, piece together and construct the garment.

The course is ideal for anyone wanting to spend less time on the high street and more time crafting beautiful and unique designs that you’d be proud to wear.

You needn’t worry about breaking the bank either, the course will set you back just £85. That’s just £14 a week or £7 an hour.

Course dates: Mondays, February 1, 8, 22, 29 and March 7, 14 from 7pm–9pm

The course fee includes basic materials, such as calico, pattern cutting paper, zips and cottons.

Suitable for all levels of expertise.
