At a time when many people looked forward to receiving presents and self-indulgence, staff and students have been doing their bit to help others, raising hundreds of pounds for charities in the process.

One of the many charities the school support annually is BBC Children in Need. This charity is important to schools as the focus is on helping disadvantaged children and young people in communities across the UK. This year The Cowplain School supported the theme of ‘Get Together and Make a Difference’ on Friday, November 15 and raised an amazing grand total of £792.93.

In December, staff and students at the school donned their bright Christmas jumpers or T-shirts in celebration of Christmas Jumper Day to also raise money for Save the Children.

As well as being full of fun and laughter, the event also looked to increase awareness of this incredible charity.

‘I wore a giant jumper with Santa’s face. It was great fun and I really enjoyed raising money for charity,’ commented William White, a Year 7 student.

The charity helps to ensure children grow up healthy and safe while ensuring they receive an education to enable them to choose their future paths. Students and staff donated money to this worthwhile cause and raised a whopping £853.10 for this incredible charity.
