Double joy for pre-school ends with big celebration

Staff, children and their parents '¨from Padnell Pre-School came together for a double celebration of the school's success.

The pre-school, based at Cowplain, was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for the third consecutive inspection.

This achievement came just months after receiving the accreditation award ‘Reflecting on Quality’ from the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

The celebration was held at Waterlooville Leisure Centre’s World of Play and more than 100 children attended with their families.

Manager Karen Turner said: ‘We were extremely pleased, the whole team has done really well.

‘Working with parents remained at
the core of everything that was accomplished.’

The Ofted inspection took place in February and praised the school for continuing to reflect and review what they do.

There was only one recommendation for future improvements, which was to ‘extend the already successful systems in place to monitor small group activities to focus more precisely on the impact of activities on outcomes for children’.

The accreditation from the Learning Alliance lasts for three years and came as a result of improvements to the outdoor area at the venue.

A garden canopy was built, largely thanks to the amount of fundraising done by parents. The canopy provides a much- needed dry space outdoors, so the children can enjoy the area in all weathers.

Ms Turner added: ‘We are very proud to have gained accreditation after working towards the goal for two-and-a-half years.

‘It would not have been possible without the support of a fantastic team of staff and all the parents and carers, both old and new, of the pre-school.

‘Having the canopy allows the children to access the outdoor area the whole year round.

‘In addition the ‘Outstanding’ grade we from Ofsted, is testament to all we have achieved.’
