Event will promote careers in teaching

TEACHERS or those considering a career in teaching are being urged to go to a recruitment event.

The Teach Portsmouth event will give more information about opportunities to teach in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth City Council will be holding the event with Portsmouth Teaching School Alliance, on Saturday, January 14 from 10am to 12.30pm at 1000 Lakeside North Harbour, Western Road.

People will be able to meet primary, secondary and special schools, plus post-16 providers, many of which are seeking candidates to start in September.

Cllr Neill Young, cabinet member for education, said: ‘We’re committed to raising education standards. Good teachers can inspire young people to reach their potential.

‘Our previous two events have been successful and we have some great opportunities – so come along and find out how rewarding teaching could be.’
