Fareham Academy students shine in maths challenge

Students from Fareham Academy have been presented with certificates to recognise their success in the UK Maths Challenge.

Between them, students from the academy achieved 2 gold, 7 silver and 19 bronze certificates.

And Year 8 student Jamie Ruddick qualified as one of the top 1,000 highest-scoring students nationally in the UK maths challenge Olympiad, a feat hailed as 'an amazing achievement' by headteacher Adele Deasy.

She added: 'Once again I am immensely proud of the success of our students at Fareham Academy.

'They have been rewarded for demonstrating a mastery of high performance in mathematics.'

More than 500,000 students across the country compete in the maths challenge each year with roughly 6 per cent receiving a gold certificate, 13 per cent silver and 21 per cent bronze.
