Gosport schoolchildren rewarded for good behaviour at ceremony
This is the second respect initiative run by the council’s primary behaviour service in collaboration with Gosport Borough Council, following a successful first project in the summer term of 2015.
The five schools rewarded were Grange Junior School, Elson Junior School, Woodcot Primary School, Newtown Primary School and Brockhurst Junior School.

At each school, children who won badges frequently were put forward for the special ceremony at the council chambers.
Each child received a certificate from the mayor, a mayor’s badge and a trophy from Hampshire County Council’s executive member for education Councillor Peter Edgar.
Children learned to explain what respect means and the importance of being honest.

Cllr Edgar said: ‘I am very proud to see so many well-behaved and respectful children being rewarded for their hard work.
‘For many children, learning the importance of respect for others, and learning to control your own behaviour, are the hardest lessons.
‘However, I believe that respect is also one of the most important lessons.

The mayor of Gosport, Councillor Keith Farr, said: ‘It was a delight talking to the children and several parents spoke to me after the awards to say what a difference the respect initiative had made to their child.’
