A-level results: Support for students ahead of results day

Results day is a day full of emotion - joy, celebration, tears and lots of nerves, as young people anxiously await to see if the grades they’ve achieved will get them into university or wherever they had planned to go next.

For some students, there may be disappointment over the results they have achieved, and they may be forced to re-evaluate their options.

Whatever the outcome tomorrow, there are many support services for students in the area and nationally.

Most colleges and sixth forms have their own in-support advice centres, which will be open for students to visit on results day.

The Careers Centre at South Downs College, in Waterlooville, will be open from 8.30 am tomorrow.

They can offer support and advice, including information about going through UCAS clearing, re-taking exams, or looking at other higher education options, including apprenticeships.

Danielle Harding, career advisor at South Downs College, said: ‘There is always a solution and always an alternative way to get where you want in life.

‘The students should be proud that they completed their exams and time at college, regardless of the outcome.

‘There are lots of services to support them and we provide advice for our students at South Downs.’
