Libraries offer help for young people

HAMPSHIRE County Council's libraries have joined a national scheme offering free expert-endorsed books to help young people with mental health issues.

Reading Well provides 13 to 18-year-olds with information, support and advice on a wide range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders and self-harm, and difficult life pressures such as bullying and exams.

The libraries are making available a core booklist of 35 books, which were selected by mental health experts and young people.

The libraries taking part locally are Fareham, Gosport, Petersfield and Waterlooville.

Library members can also find the books in the online catalogue and reserve them

The scheme is funded by Arts Council England and the Wellcome Trust.
