Looking forward to meeting old friends

It has been an emotional week for me this week as I realised I left school 25 years ago in May. The first thing I thought of doing was arranging a reunion.

I am looking forward to meeting with old friends. I can say old because most of us are 40 now and when we were at school anyone 30 and above was old.

It got me thinking how long Brune Park has been open, how many of my Gosport friends went to Brune Park, how many of my fellow students are now at Brune Park working as the teachers we tormented.

I expect everybody has a tale or two to tell of when they were at Brune Park.

Brune Park actually opened on July 9 back in 1966. So to celebrate its 50th birthday there are a few events happening.

Were you there back in 1966, were you a teacher or a student? Would you like to go back there again and have a look around to see what’s changed and what remains the same? Do you like cups of tea and being nosey?

Well pop along to Brune Park School on January 29 from 1.30pm for their tea and tour and you can do just that – everyone is welcome. Teachers, students and staff and I will be there.

Another event planned for this year is Summerfest 2016.

This event will be held on Brune Park School field and there will be live music from ex-students, current students and local bands.

As well as stalls, craft stalls and a car boot sale, everyone is welcome to be part of the event by contacting Amanda.

There will also be a colouring competition on posters that will go out to local schools. Please bring the poster along on the day, coloured in for the chance to win a prize.

There will also be a balloon release and a traditional sports day with proper races, like the egg and spoon and the sack race.

There will be plenty of other fun activities including the Hayling donkeys, jungle buddies and Kidsrome petting farm.

All money raised from this event will go towards various charities that are chosen by the students in their house groups.

Each non-school uniform day this year will be dedicated to a good cause.

The next one at Brune Park is on Thursday, February 11.

Students may dress up in 90s clothing if they wish.

It is £1 and the money will go to their house group charities.
