Maths centre of excellence

FAREHAM College has been appointed as one of 21 new centres for excellence inÂ mathematics.

It is part of a Â£40mÂ investment into the post-16 sector to improve the teaching of mathematics across the country.Â

The newsÂ was announced byÂ Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education, at the recent Conservative Party Conference.

Deputy principal, Andrew Kaye, said: '˜We are delighted that we have been successful and look forward to working with our network to make the programme a success. Maths is a vitally important academic discipline but there are many students who struggle to get engaged with the subject.'
