Music hub to launch environmental effortÂ

A MUSIC group is set to begin a year-long quest encouraging children to think more about the environment.

Portsmouth Music Hub is launching its latest campaign, One World, this week. The drive will see a host of special events, using music and the arts to teach children and young people about the impact pollution can have on the planet.

The official launch is on Friday at South Parade Pier. Pupils from schools across the city will perform three songs from a brand new songbook by the hub's team of composers.

Comprised of 17 songs in total, the book teaches children about a range of environmental issues. After singing about some of these issues, youngsters will then tackle a beach clean.

Then, on September 28, 1,500 pupils will give a stunning rendition of the song on the steps of the Guildhall as part of BBC Music Day.

A special video of the song, featuring a number of city choirs and musicians, will later be released.
