Portsmouth University hailed one of the world's best in new league table

IT'S official '“ the University of Portsmouth is one of the world's finest.

It has been ranked in the best 150 young universities in the globe for the second year running.

The Times Higher Education’s ‘150 under 50’ rankings celebrate the high quality of research and teaching at the world’s best universities which are less than 50 years old.

Portsmouth is in the top half of the 25 UK universities in the list published yesterday, and ranked 99th overall.

Vice-chancellor Graham Galbraith said he was proud the university continued to be recognised as excellent by a wide range of independent guides, ranking everything from research quality and teaching standards to student satisfaction.

He said: ‘I am delighted the university has again been recognised as one of the best modern universities in the world.

‘We are proud of being a dynamic and forward-thinking institution which is relevant to our students and to wider society through bold, world-leading research and our strong commitment to helping industry solve pressing problems.’

The guide used the same performance indicators as the World University Rankings, in which Portsmouth also features in the top two per cent.

Portsmouth is ranked one of the top 10 modern universities in the UK in the 2016 Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and features in the top 500 universities in the world in Times Higher Education World University rankings.
