Portsmouth university student sees research nominated for award

University of Portsmouth academic Dia Soilemezi had her PhD nominated for the Cities and Communities category of the RIBA President’s Awards for Research.

Her PhD investigated the impact of the home environment in dementia care.

She said: ‘I am delighted and honoured. My research indicated that home, although of paramount importance, can also be a place of risks and tensions.

‘Aspects of interior environment can be problematic but when adapted can encourage independence and comfort at home.’
