Principal reacts to budget
PORTSMOUTH College principal, Simon Barrable, has reacted with concern to the recent budget and the failure to address funding cuts for post 16 education.
Whilst welcoming the news of an additional £50,000 payment, Mr Barrable feels this does not go anywhere near far enough in redressing the balance of almost a decade of real terms cuts.
Mr Barrable said: '˜Whilst we welcome this one off payment what was missing from this budget was the much needed increase in the rate of funding per student. This has not increased for almost a decade, despite 22% increases in costs over that period.'
