Information events about the Greenwich Hospital bursaries – to cover up to 100 per cent of the fees for the Royal Hospital School – are being held in Portsmouth later this month.

The school – which is set in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside – has very strong ties to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines and historically has drawn many of its pupils from the Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport and Havant areas.

The Seafarer Bursaries are awarded by Greenwich Hospital to provide financial assistance to either currently serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel or those that have recently left the services.

The drop-in information events are being held at the Marriott Hotel in Cosham on November 26, from 2pm to 8pm, and on November 27 from 9am to 1pm. Anyone interested in booking a slot during one of those times can do so by emailing [email protected]

Headmaster of the Royal Hospital School, Simon Lockyer, said: “Our Royal Navy heritage means our links to the Portsmouth area are strong and we continue to provide a first-class education option for the children of those serving in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

“We offer more than an education; we give them a world view that sets them up for whatever challenges they experience beyond their school career. This approach is an attractive one for military families who are keen to secure continuity in their children’s education at a school that understands their lifestyle.”
