Scheme trialled in Portsmouth will provide sanitary products

A PROJECT has launched to help girls who may miss school because they cannot afford sanitary products.

The Red Box Project is being trialled in schools across Portsmouth and will see the community sponsor a box to keep it filled with sanitary towels and spare underwear.

The box is accessible through a member of staff and plain bags are included for discretion.

Posters placed in the girls’ toilets signpost the box, its content and location. It is hoped disadvantaged girls will have the reassurance of sanitary towels being available for them.
