School needs votes to refurbish pool

A PRIMARY school is hoping for votes to help restore its outdoor swimming pool.

Alverstoke Junior School in Gosport is on a short list in Tesco’s Bags of Help competition and has a chance to win up to £12,000.

The money it is hoping to secure will go towards urgent work to ensure pupils have a place to learn to swim.

Members of the public can vote in certain Tesco stores in Gosport, Fareham and Lee-on-the-Solent from October 31 to November 13.

Headteacher Graham Cutter said: ‘Learning to swim is an essential skill, particularly with our proximity to the Solent.’
