Southsea school's trampoline team through to final

A TEAM of trampoline students will be travelling to Northern Ireland to take part in the final of a competition.

Priory School, in Southsea, was successful in the under-15 boys’ trampoline zonal final.

Barney Christie, Marvin Meal, Joseph Mason and Ethan Walton, the school’s novice trampoline team, will now head to the British Schools’ Gymnastic Association National Trampoline Finals in Belfast on Saturday, March 24.

They qualified for the event in first place after the southern zonal finals.

Priory took two teams to Jumper’s Rebound Centre, in Gillingham, Kent, to compete against 350 young trampolinists from more than 100 schools.

Barney is also through to the individual final in Belfast.

A spokeswoman for the Priory School, in Fawcett Road, said: ‘The team, who began working together as part of their GCSE PE syllabus, have proved to be naturally gifted and fearless bouncers who have benefitted from outstanding coaching from Jen Jordan, one of our PE teachers.’
