Students hope to see hundreds of superheroes to beat world record

PEOPLE dressed up as superheroes will attempt to break a world record while raising money for charity.

The challenge, which is open to the public, is being organised by students from the University of Portsmouth.

It aims to set out a new world record for the most people in one place dressed up as superheroes.

The current record stands at 1,580 people, and it was set in the USA at Paramount Studios, in Los Angeles, in 2010. It was done to promote movie Megamind.

The money will be raised to help Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity that helps children fighting life-threatening conditions. The superheroes will meet at Portsmouth Guildhall on Wednesday at 6pm.

James Belmonte, one of the event organisers, said: ‘We have had really positive reactions and response so far and we have been supported very well.

People seem to be excited and children are really looking forward to it.

‘We hope to gather as many people as possible in order to set a new record and raise money for charity’.

Evidence will be sent to the Guinness Book of World Records for verification.
