As reported in The News, the St John’s College student landed a starring role in Swallows and Amazons after being spotted by a casting director.

She and fellow St John’s College pupil Dane Hughes were picked to play the young leads in the new adaptation of Arthur Ransome’s classic children’s book alongside the likes of Kelly Macdonald, Rafe Spall, Andrew Scott and Harry Enfield.

Seren, who lives in Southsea, said juggling film life with her studies proved tricky.

But she was pleased to pick up an A in PE, two Bs and four Cs.

Seren said: ‘Last year was a crazy year and I can say my mind wasn’t solely focused on my exams, I was quite distracted.

‘At the time, I didn’t deal with the pressure as well as I should have.

‘I just needed to forget about what was going on and focus on my work.

‘But it was fun and exciting.

‘The film has been met well by critics, and they’ve given it four and five stars.

‘The support from everyone has been really great.’

But hard-working Seren says one of her other passions is sport; and she is going on to study PE, psychology, film studies and performing arts at Peter Symonds College, in Winchester.
