Teenagers are hoping to transform garden for Kids in Fareham

The group are taking part in the government-backed National Citizen Service scheme, being run by Personal Best Education at Fareham College.

The four-week scheme inspires 15 to 17-year olds to take up social action projects over the school holidays.

Sophie Pearce, 16, from Fareham said: ‘They want us to make the garden area really nice for the children.’

The teenagers are hoping to transform the garden at Kids, in Salterns Lane, Fareham.

Hannah Munden, 16, from Horndean, said the charity was close to her heart as it had helped one of her family members.

She said she had been enjoying taking part in the National Citizen Service scheme,

‘It has been great. It has been so rewarding,’ she said.

The group will be doing a conga in fancy dress from Fareham College to Fareham railway station today. Tomorrow and Thursday they will be volunteering at the centre.

On Wednesday they will holding a bucket collection in Fareham town centre and on Friday they will litter-pick.
