Teens put on fun day as part of NCS project

TEENAGERS are due to hold a summer fun day to raise cash for charity.

The group, known as The Squad, are completing their National Citizen Service programme in Fareham.

The government-backed scheme, which is organised by Personal Best Education, sees 15 to 17-year olds undertake two weeks of residential trips followed by two weeks of devising and carrying out a social action project in their communities. About 70 youngsters are completing the programme in Fareham.

One of the teams involved is planning a fundraising day at Portchester Community Centre, in Westlands Grove, which will take place on Tuesday from 11am until 3pm.

There will be stalls, games, raffles, plus much more, in aid of charity Autism Hampshire.

Team member Katie Kemish, 16, from Wecock Farm, said: ‘We want to get the message out there that teenagers are not all hooligans.’

They picked the charity as team members have family members with autism. For more search ‘NCS C116 charity fun day’ on Facebook.
